Monsignor Lafferty Tuition Foundation

Monsignor Lafferty Tuition Foundation

(Updated Sept. 1, 2021)

Thank you, our generous donors, for your help in enabling the families of St. Mary’s students to access tuition scholarships to provide a Catholic education for their children. Your donations also help us to offer tuition scholarships to students new to RSM.  In 2020, the Diocese of Sioux City Schools raised $3,074,397. Of that, Remsen St. Mary’s raised $145,417 which was 105% of our goal. These funds are being awarded as tuition scholarships for the 2021-2022 school year to qualifying students.

If you are a past donor or potential donor, you should know that there are many ways to donate to MLTF (see methods of giving below) that may be even more beneficial for you. Remsen St. Mary’s goal for 2021 is $117,953.
By contributing to the Monsignor Lafferty Tuition Foundation, donors can receive a tax credit certificate worth 75% of their donation. Please note that these tax credits are limited and are on a first-come, first-serve basis. We are currently accepting donations that will apply toward 2021 tax returns. Gifts in 2021 will afford tuition scholarships for RSM students in the 2022-2023 school year.

For a better understanding of the MLTF program, check out the information sheets listed under the Monsignor Lafferty Tuition Foundation tab found on this site (see tabs to left) or go to https://scdiocese.org/monsignor-lafferty-tuition-foundation.

Recipients of the MLTF funds will be determined by an application to TADS, a third-party financial aid review provider.

TADS Applications: Tuition applications can be accessed under the Admissions tab on this website, click on Diocese of Sioux City Tuition Program. The applications for the 2022-2023 school year are due April 2022.  Families new to St. Mary's may apply up to mid-September. Applications for the 2022-2023 school year will begin February 2022. TADS applications determine a family’s allocation for MLTF, Bishop's Education Fund, the Catherine Birzle education scholarships, as well as make recommendations for local tuition assistance. Families are eligible up to 3.5X the poverty level for MLTF, and up to 5X poverty for the Bishop's Education Fund. Information on 3.5X and 5X's poverty charts are included on the tabs in the menu.
